Being a positive person who has an enthusiastic outlook on life, I love my job of helping each and every student to learn and grow in an affirming creative way. In addition, I get a great sense of achievement from seeing my students develop the skill as individuals and set a platform for growth. If I can have a positive impact on their future, I feel I am doing my job well.
I had been working as a Guest Lecturer in Accounting and Taxation under The University Of Calicut, India before arriving to New Zealand. Full time job of teaching & tutoring over 100 tertiary students was rewarding but I loved my job. Some of the duties include:
- Lecture planning, preparation and
research
- One-to-one interaction with students, if
required
- Checking and assessing students' work
- Encouraging personal development via
tutorial
- Invigilating examinations
- Attending staff meetings
- Schedule extra classes and prepare notes
- Reading academic journals
- Supervising both graduates and post
graduates
- Attending and speaking at conference
seminars
My approach to tutoring is to provide a tailor-made tuition depending on the needs of the student. I aim to run a tuition in support of the progression of my students through their subject syllabus, but I am also willing to progress more slowly and focus on particularly weak areas if the students so desires. I would advise offering pre-exam revision sessions and mock exams as well. Moreover, I expect students to maintain regular contact in regards to their subject progressions and their individual needs. In addition, I am happy to meet the parents or guardians of my students prior to the commencement of tuition in order to ascertain what they wish their child to gain from tuition. Read less
